What are Global Mission Teams?

The Salvation Army USA Central Territory offers an opportunity for Salvationists who are 18 or older one-two week missions experiences through the Global Mission Team program.

The primary purposes of the teams are:

  1. To establish a partnership between team members and in-country personnel
  2. To develop awareness of other cultures and The Salvation Army worldwide
  3. To make an impact on the global work of The Salvation Army
  4. To foster personal growth
  5. To encourage consideration of long-term overseas service

Qualifications for Applicants
  • Actively attend a Central Territory Salvation Army corps
  • Must have the endorsement of the Corps Officer and Divisional Headquarters.
  • Visibly demonstrate love for God and compassion for others.
  • Emotional and spiritual maturity
  • Knowledge of the Bible
  • Evangelistic zeal and a clear personal witness
  • Tolerant personality / Even temperament
  • Friendliness / Approachability
  • Specific skills / experience in teaching, public speaking, evangelism, gospel arts or construction may be required for certain mission teams.
Please remember to download/print off the Endorsement Form and give it to your corps officer so we can secure required corps and divisional endorsements! Your application will be valid and on-file for one year from the date received.

What is Summer Mission Team?

Summer Mission Team (SMT) is a leadership development program that invites young people into a deeper relationship with the Lord through participation in an eight-week team missions experience.  While the teams minister with The Salvation Army overseas or throughout the Midwest they are given the opportunity to discover God’s plan for all people to be part of His Kingdom.  Summer Mission Team members also benefit from gaining a broader perspective of The Salvation Army.  In 2017 there will be three types of summer teams - overseas teams, a central team, and CAST (Creative Arts Service Team).  All applicants will complete the same application, but those interested in CAST will be required to submit additional application materials and a video audition at a later date. (The Territorial Music & Gospel Arts Department will be in contact with CAST applicants directly to communicate these requirements.)

Qualifications for Applicants
  • Active Salvationist (must own and be willing to wear uniform as assigned)
  • 18-28 years of age
  • Must have the endorsement of the Corps Officer and Divisional Headquarters.
  • Visibly demonstrate love for God and compassion for others.
  • Proven leadership ability. Successful involvement in corps or divisional leadership.
  • Specific skills and experience in teaching, public speaking, children's ministry, evangelism, gospel arts or construction.
  • Evangelistic zeal and a clear personal witness.
  • Knowledge of the Bible

NOTE: If the applicant's parent is the corps officer, please have a local officer complete this endorsement.
